Long
Tours
New
for 2007 is a unique seven day tour of Scotland's
ancient Templar sites, where you can view the distinctive
burial marker stones of the Knights Templar, and the areas in
which they lived as well as preceptory ruins and Cistercian abbeys
they were connected with. It culminates in Rosslyn by default.
A
well established seven day tour through Highland Perthshire and
Iona, embracing the early Christian
history of Glen Lyon before
travelling onto the sacred isle of IONA
that shared deep historical links with the Perthshire mainland
is popular with women seeking spiritual tours. There is much opportunity
to dowse, sense the energies and learn more of the deeply esoteric
aspects of the sites. Many of the sites are linked with the enigmatic
group of early Christians known as the Culdees, that are
the subject of one of Jackie's booklets
you can purchase. As with the tour of Southwest Scotland's early
sites, you can visit Lindisfarne in the east at the end as an
additional option.
The
seven
day tour
of Southern Scotland covers
the early saints such as Ninian, Serf, Mungo and Columba and their
respective mission areas. Ninian was the first "missionary"
in the early part of the fifth century, and many famous early
saints were reared at his White House (Candida Casa). This is
a tour of wild seascapes and beautiful rolling Border hills, and
many fascinating legends.
The
story of Merlin meeting Mungo shows how this was a time when Druidism
and Christianity had thin boundaries, and such legends testify
to this, with associated sites exuding an air of mystique to this
day.
St
Cuthbert was of the Lindisfarne school that shared its roots with
Columba's Iona school and the holy isle of Lindisfarne can be
added to your tour.
Short
Breaks
Small
groups or individuals can book two day trails of early Christianity
in Southwest
Scotland, the magic of
Glen Lyon with its ancient sites and beautiful nature
in Perthshire or the land of the Picts
with their enigmatic Pictish carvings on standing stones
in Angus and Fife. Prices available
upon request and include complimentary notes, guiding for two
days and transport to and from Edinburgh.
General
In
addition excellent "normal" sightseeing tours can be
booked using a very experienced and excellent tour guide Ivor
Henricksen, who is half Scottish and half Norwegian.
